Olive NotchMovers
Two people wrapping and packing household belongings into cardboard cartons in a sunlit room

Household & small-office moving

Your things, carried like someone lives with them.

Olive Notch is a small crew that packs, lifts and places moves at a steady pace — blankets down, corners wrapped, cartons labelled by the room they belong in.

Wrapped before it moves Blankets, corner guards and floor runners come out before the first box does.
One crew, start to finish The people who survey your rooms are the people who carry them out.
Labelled to the room Every carton is marked, so unpacking starts where the box lands.

What we move

Four kinds of move, handled the same careful way

Tell us which one sounds like yours and we will shape the crew, the van and the hours around it.

Homes & apartments

Studios up to family houses, packed room by room and rebuilt in the same order at the other end.

  • Full or partial packing
  • Wardrobe cartons on the day
  • Stairs and lift access planned ahead

Small offices & studios

Desks, shelving and equipment moved outside working hours so the team returns to a room that works.

  • Evening and weekend slots
  • Cable bagging and labelling
  • Desk rebuild on arrival

Single & heavy pieces

One piano, one armoire, one marble table — the awkward item that will not fit in a friend's car.

  • Doorway and turn measured first
  • Straps, skates and two-person lifts
  • Disassembly where it is safer

Storage transfers

Moving between dates? We load, hold the inventory list, and deliver to your unit or new address.

  • Itemised loading list
  • Palletised, covered stacking
  • Second-leg delivery booked with you

How the day runs

No surprises between the first box and the last

Most of the worry in a move is not knowing the order of things. Here is the order.

  1. 01

    Walkthrough

We look at rooms, access and the pieces that need special handling, then write the plan down.

  2. 02

    Pack & protect

Runners on floors, blankets on furniture, cartons filled and marked with the room they are headed for.

  3. 03

    Load & travel

Heavy first, fragile last, everything strapped. You get a message when the van leaves.

  4. 04

    Place & rebuild

Boxes land in the right rooms, beds and tables go back together, packing waste leaves with us.

Included as standard

The care kit comes with the booking

These are not add-ons or upgrades. If it is on this list, it is already in the van on the morning of your move.

  • Quilted blankets and shrink wrap for sofas, mattresses and anything with a soft edge.
  • Floor runners and door guards at both addresses, down before the first carry.
  • Disassembly and reassembly of beds, table legs and flat-pack shelving, with fixings bagged and taped to the frame.
  • Room-labelled cartons and a written inventory so nothing gets hunted for at midnight.
  • Packing waste removed at the end of the day, flattened and taken away with the crew.

Areas we cover

Local moves across the notch and the valley

Same-day local routes run through these districts. Anything further out is quoted as its own trip.

  • Alder Bank
  • Notch Hill
  • Fernway
  • Old Mill Quarter
  • Thistledown
  • Grove End
  • Harrow Green
  • Stonebridge

Moving out of the region entirely? Long routes are still welcome — send the two addresses in the estimate form and we will come back with a plan for travel time, rest stops and a delivery window.

Questions

The things people ask before booking

How far ahead should I book?

Two to three weeks is comfortable for a local home move, and gives us time to walk through the rooms first. Month-end and end-of-quarter dates fill up soonest, so flag those early. Short-notice moves are worth asking about — we sometimes have a crew free.

Do I have to pack everything myself?

No. You can pack it all, pack only the personal things and leave the kitchen and wardrobes to us, or hand the whole job over. Tell us which in the estimate form and we will bring the right amount of materials and hours.

What happens if access is difficult?

Narrow stairs, a lift that needs booking, a long carry from the van — all normal, all easier when we know in advance. The walkthrough exists to find these, and the plan is adjusted before the day rather than improvised on it.

How do you handle fragile and valuable items?

Glass, ceramics and artwork are wrapped individually and packed upright in dedicated cartons that travel last and come off first. For anything irreplaceable, we would rather you carry it yourself — we will say so plainly during the walkthrough.

Is there anything you will not move?

We do not carry fuels, gas bottles, open paint, fireworks or anything flammable, and we cannot transport live plants or pets safely in a loaded van. Food from the freezer needs its own cool box and a short journey.

What do you need from me on the day?

Someone at each address who can answer a question, parking kept clear for the van, and a kettle if you are feeling generous. Everything else is on the crew.

Tell us the two addresses and roughly when

A short note is enough to start. We reply with questions if we have them, or a written estimate and a suggested walkthrough time if we do not.

  • No obligation and no deposit to get a figure
  • Walkthroughs can be done in person or over a video call
  • The estimate lists crew size, hours and materials separately

We use what you send here only to prepare your estimate.
